In the Land of the Blind
In the land of the blind,
the one-eyed man
can't find his car keys.
After the sun goes down,
the man who would be
king is just as blind.
A world made
for the sightless is dark;
his one eye has no value
in the land without
light switches, flashlights,
or lamps.
In the land of the blind,
there is no darkness,
save that of the soul,
and the frail and luckless
half-sighted man
alone in the dark.
He gropes his way
into the black,
lighted match by
lighted match, until
his fingers, charred
by the effort,
now refuse.
In the land of the blind,
the one-eyed man
is alone with his sight.
Shadows may prove the light,
maybe only the brave can see.
But first, blindness.
the one-eyed man
can't find his car keys.
After the sun goes down,
the man who would be
king is just as blind.
A world made
for the sightless is dark;
his one eye has no value
in the land without
light switches, flashlights,
or lamps.
In the land of the blind,
there is no darkness,
save that of the soul,
and the frail and luckless
half-sighted man
alone in the dark.
He gropes his way
into the black,
lighted match by

his fingers, charred
by the effort,
now refuse.
In the land of the blind,
the one-eyed man
is alone with his sight.
Shadows may prove the light,

But first, blindness.
